This will be quick & to the point. If a 2 gallon water jug has  7   02  stamped on the bottom, does that put the manufacture date as Feb., 1970?

That's what I understand for certain years 60s and some 70s. Later it has month then year. Some are not marked. Very early has glass lined.

glass lined ? never seen that on a coleman jug but we have a porceleon lined early coleman jug here . and its all metal with no plastic so its much heavier than a snowlite . ya , i think you have your date right .

May have been porcelain looked like white glass.
