Is there any way to date an iron? I see the book says 1929-1941...

Not really, just the broad eras of production from the catalogues and descriptions. Unfortunately, no date stampings on them.

There are some little differences that might help, but no one seems to have put them together in one place.

My 4A has the valve stem and FA tube like an L220 slant--the stem is threaded for a pricker/heat control rod (missing) and the FA tube is just like the slant's, but upside-down. I'd guess this would make it a '29?
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.
